Enjoy a holiday in Greece without leaving your house

“My absolute favourite destination of all time is Greece, this place just exudes magic with its incredible ancient history and natural beauty. I love everything about Greece, from the cobble stone streets lined with vibrant bougainvillea trees, to the delicious cuisine and the surprisingly delicious wine. There is absolutely nothing like sipping on a Mythos Greek beer, while watching a magenta sunset over the endless ocean. Honestly Greece is a little taste of heaven on earth.”

Aren’t we all dreaming of a holiday in Greece? Since we can’t travel there right now and most likely not even this winter (here) / summer (over there) we put together a list of things to do at home that will bring you that Greek-feeling just a tiny bit closer to our shores.

Discover Athens

Of all Europe’s historical capitals, Athens is probably the one that has changed the most in recent years. But even though it has become a modern metropolis, it still retains a good deal of its old small town feel. Here antiquity meets the future, and the ancient monuments mix with a trendier Athens and it is precisely these great contrasts that make the city such a fascinating place to explore. The heart of its historical centre is the Plaka neighbourhood, with narrow streets mingling like a labyrinth where to discover ancient secrets.

Greece’s tourism authorities, in cooperation with Google, launched the greecefromhome.com site this week. You can take a virtual tour of Corfu, peer at archaeological sites, take part in a wine tasting, fly over island beaches, listen to Greek music and learn about Greek food.
